About S.F.A.R. and Our Team
Mission Statement:
Here at S.F.A.R. we are dedicated and passionate about the welfare and wellbeing of all creatures large and small, furry, feathered and scaly. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, re-home and provide sanctuary for animals in need throughout the northern Nevada region. We live by the words “one by one until there are none, on a wing and a prayer and a paw”. We strive for all of our placements to be in a forever, loving home, therefore, never allowing that animal to end up in the confines of the shelter/rescue system again. This is the paw print that we wish to leave on this planet, and we work tirelessly to achieve our goal of no more unwanted pets! Dog Bless.
Our team consists of a dedicated group of animal lovers who strive to make the world a better place one animal at a time!
Gina Stanchfield is our founder and the president of our organization. She has been an animal advocate her entire life and she created S.F.A.R. out of her drive, enthusiasm and passion for animal welfare. She has been in the animal industry for over 50 years, specializing in professional pet grooming among many other talents!
Jessica Shope is our secretary, but her duties aren't limited to just office work! Jessica not only manages many of the animal caretaker duties, but she is also an experienced pet groomer in our grooming shop. Jessica has over 20 years of experience in the animal industry and has been an animal advocate her entire life, rescuing and taking in wayward animals in need of a helping hand.
Crystal Baughn is our treasurer and bookkeeper. Crystal is not only an experienced animal handler and passionate about animal welfare, but she and her daughter Lena are members of 4H, raising animals and promoting healthy animal husbandry. Crystal has been such an asset to our organization; her technical experience and organizational skills are hugely beneficial to S.F.A.R.
In addition to our rescue and sanctuary services, we also provide professional dog grooming on site. Our grooming proceeds help to support our rescue efforts. Here at S.F.A.R. we feel that grooming is a form of love and should be treated as such. We provide quality work with a gentle touch using all natural products.
